bosatte på ruter med størrelse 5km x 5km, for gjeldende år og historiske versjoner siden 2001. Grunnlaget for dataene er folkeregistrert befolkning knyttet mot adressepunkter i Matrikkelen, summert til rutenettet. inndeling angir antall menn, antall kvinner samt snittalder i ruta. mens andre inndeling angir kun totalt bosatte.
Befolkning på ruter tilhører temagruppen "Befolkning" i SSBs produktgruppe ”Statistikk på rutenett”. Andre temaer det finnes lages rutenettdatasett for er "Virksomheter" , "Bygg/Bolig", og "Jord, skog, jakt og fiskeri"
