Statistiske rutenett
SSB har definert rutenett for bruk av offisiell statistikk i Norge. Ved hjelp av rutenett-ID kan rutenettstatistikk knyttes til kart. Gridstørrelsene er: 250m, 500m, 1km, 2km, 5km, 10km, 25km, 50km, 100km, 250km, 500km.

For eksempel SSB produserer årlig ”Statistikk på rutenett” for ruteinndelingene 250m X 250m, 1km x 1km og 5km x 5km. De fire temaene det produseres statistikk for er "Bygg/Bolig", "Befolkning", "Virksomheter", og "Jord, skog, jakt og fiskeri". Rutenettene brukes også i utvalgsundersøkelser
